Hi everyone! Welcome back to the blog! I hope you're having a beautiful fall season so far. Autumn is one of my favorite seasons because I feel that it's the season of calmness and comfort. The delicious warm teas, and treats, the comforting movies, the beautiful trees and nature, and most of all, the self-care practices! Fall is my time to get back into my self-care and wellness routines that bring me calmness and peace. For this week's post, I wanted to share 5 of my top practices that help me feel grounded. I feel like there's a lot of transition for all of us during this season, and we could all use some more calmness during this time. See below for 5 of my grounding self-care practices for Fall.
1) Create a cozier home environment
As the weather gets colder, it's natural to want to spend more time indoors. Creating a cozy home environment can help you to feel more grounded and comfortable. Light some candles, put on a warm blanket, and curl up with a good book or movie. Make yourself a cup of tea or hot chocolate. Allow yourself to relax and unwind in the comfort of your own home. Creating a cozy home environment is my safe space, and it helps me feel comforted during this season. It can also help you to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.
2) Practice intuitive movement & mindfulness
I like to end my day with some intuitive movement, taking time to listen to what my body needs. A simple yoga flow from Melissa Wood Health helps me connect with my breath and feel more grounded. Her meditations and full-body stretches are my favorite ways to show myself at the end of each day. Moving mindfully and with purpose sets me up for a peaceful, focused day. Whether it's 5 minutes of stretching or a 20-minute yoga sequence, this ritual benefits my mental and physical health immensely. I'm learning not to judge my practice or beat myself up if I don't have much time, but rather appreciate whatever mindful movement I can fit in.
3) Go on nature walks
A grounding practice I love during the fall is taking a mindfulness walk with a family member or friend. Focusing on the sights, sounds, and sensations allows me to calm my mind. I pay attention to the crunch of leaves under my feet, the crisp air on my face, and the changing colors of the trees. If thoughts enter my mind, I gently return my focus to the present moment. Afterward, I felt more connected to nature and centered within myself. Pausing to appreciate the simple beauty around me nourishes my soul. My mindfulness walks are a soothing way to relieve stress and clear my head. So, the next time you get outside, go on a short nature walk for your mental health!
4) Practice more hobbies or find a new one
Fall is a great time to get back into hobbies that spark joy for you! I think it's so fun to find things just for us that make us happy and joyful! Find time this season to practice hobbies that uplift your energy and make you feel good! It could be trying out new recipes, baking, going for nature walks, drawing, playing a sport or a game with family or friends, or just being creative! For me, being creative is one of my favorite hobbies, and I love writing blog posts and creating social media posts to spread positivity to you all! Find that one hobby for YOU this season!
5) Watch a comfort show & enjoy a warm cup of tea
Trust me, sometimes all we need is a good old comfort show to help us feel calm. When I was struggling with severe anxiety, I loved de-compressing by having a warm cup of tea and turning on my comfort show. I truly believe that Fall is the season to embrace more warmth and comfort. Find a show that brings you comforting and warm vibes, sit by the fireplace, and enjoy a nice cup of warm tea. Four of my favorite comfort shows are Good Witch, Vampire Diaries, Gilmore Girls, and Gossip Girl. I love playing these shows even in the background when I'm doing work, and they just bring about more cozy and comforting vibes in my space!
Take good care and enjoy these beautiful autumn days! And remember to "Show up for YOU this week!" ❤️
