7 Self-Care Tips to Start the Year With More Good Energy and Positivity

Welcome back to the blog, and happy new year! I can't believe that it's finally 2023! With a new year comes a re-fresh and in a way, perhaps some new beginnings. I always love to set some intentions for the new year, but I also know that sometimes the start of a new year can be difficult. You may be feeling overwhelmed, or a little unmotivated, which is a completely normal part of life. But, I'm all about trying to be positive, so I wanted to share some self-care tips that I've been really leaning on to bring about more good energy and motivation in my life.


Do More of What Makes You Happy

I've already decided that 2023 will be the year of just doing what makes me happier, and overall just prioritizing my happiness. Making time to do things that I'm passionate about each day just brings me some calmness and most of all excitement! I find that one of the best ways to increase energy is by just filling up my days with more of what brings us joy and happiness. So, make it a non-negotiable to incorporate self-care practices into your day that spark happiness and good vibes for you!


Start Getting in More Movement

I've never been a huge workout person but I can say that getting in some movement is something that not only is good for my physical health, but it improves my mental health and brings me more energy. Anytime that I get in some good cardio exercise, I feel a huge boost of happiness and good energy. So, make it a part of your day a few times a week to move your body and get in a sweat! But know that fitness doesn't just need to be cardio. It can be as simple as stretching, doing yoga, or even going for a walk outside to improve how we feel!


Get Ready Every Day

I can't even tell you how much more motivation I have when I get ready for the day. As much as I love being in pajamas, putting on a regular outfit, and doing my hair and makeup automatically makes me feel happier. So, I encourage you to take the time each day just to put on maybe a favorite outfit and even do your makeup if that makes you feel good about yourself! When we feel good, we have better energy to put into the world!


Listen to Upbeat/Feel Good Music

There's one thing that I always know will put me in a better mood, and that's some gold old upbeat music. Music has the power to elevate how we feel and bring us better and more fulfilling energy. Listening to music has become a huge part of self-care for me because it shifts my energy and brings me happiness. Turn on some good music in the morning when you're getting ready, on your way to work, or even during the day when you're taking a break. Listening to some upbeat music will surely bring you the good vibes you need to start off the new year!


Surround Yourself With Good People

The people that we surround ourselves with have a bigger impact on our energy than we realize. Every day, we have the choice to be around people who are better for our mental health. There are always going to be individuals out there who may bring us down or may not bring us good energy, so choose to limit time with those people. Spend time with more people this year who bring out your happiness and bring you positivity!


Pamper Yourself Regularly

Pampering myself is one of my favorite self-care practices because it just brings me so much joy! I love to really take the time and indulge in some self-care, because not only does it make me feel good, but it seriously makes me feel happier and less stressed! So, this year, we're saying yes to getting the message, getting a pedicure, getting a blowout, taking the time to do our skincare, treating ourselves, or however you like to pamper yourself!


Integrating More Work-Life Balance

Yes, work is important, but it's not everything! There is more to life than just sitting at our desks and constantly working 24/7. In fact, our minds can only handle so much each day. So, 2023 is going to be the year where we start integrating more work-life balance in our days. By this I mean taking breaks whenever we need them, closing the laptop when our minds have reached their working capacity for the day, and doing more of what makes us happy! This is going to be the year of prioritizing our mental and physical health, so it's absolutely okay if you need to take mental or physical health days, and just put your well-being first.


Practicing some of this self-care on a daily will surely bring you some good energy and happiness in starting this new year! But remember to always take care of yourself, and to continue making self-care a non-negotiable.
