Checking in With Yourself is a Vital Component of Your Well-being

Welcome back to the blog! For this week's post, I wanted to share the significance of checking in with yourself on a daily. You might not realize this, but the relationship you have with yourself is so important. It's the basis of any other relationship that you have. So, it's incredibly important to see how you're doing emotionally, mentally, and physically on a general basis.

Lately, I've been feeling a little bit overwhelmed because it has just been one of those weeks. And if you've been feeling some anxiety kick in this week, I totally get you. I can sometimes have so many tabs open in my mind that I can forget that I actually have a mind that needs to be taken care of. And I'm sure many of you can relate. So, I've gotten into the habit of just checking in with myself. Yes, I know that it can seem a little cringy, but it makes the biggest difference. It can look like just asking myself, well, how am I doing? Am I feeling okay or not so okay? This can also be done through journaling and writing, but I find that just verbally just saying how you're doing aloud brings attention to what you need to work on. Think of it as a task on your to-do list. Because taking care of yourself should always be a priority.

A huge and critical part of self-care is understanding ourselves and it's listening to what we need to feel better. And that's part of establishing a good relationship with ourselves. If you realize that you're not doing too great mentally, then make it a priority to take care of your mind. If you find that when you're checking in with yourself, you've had an emotionally draining week, then make time to take care of that emotional health. Physically, if you're body is either tired or needs some movement, then give it what it needs.

Checking in with ourselves not only allows us to assess our needs to then practice self-care, but it allows us to fill our cup where it needs to be filled the most. You need a full cup in all dimensions to be able to pour. Just like you ask how someone else is doing is just as important as asking yourself how you're doing. Life can be challenging at times, and it's super important to feel full of the care we need as individuals to be able to not only navigate the hardships, but also the beautiful moments.

So, if you've been having a busy week or a not at busy week, I encourage you to just check-in. Bring attention to the aspects of self-care that you need the most to feel better. And remember to never be judgemental of how you're doing. We're all human and we experience so many different feelings and emotions. So be graceful and understanding. This practice will help you address your needs which is a vital component of your well-being.

Take good care of yourself,

Esha
