It's Mental Health Awareness Week. Here Are Some Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health.

Hi! Welcome back to the blog. It's starting to get chilly and fall is most definitely in the air! This is my favorite season because it brings those cozy and comforting vibes. It's the brisk air, the yummy treats, the beautiful fall leaves, and of course Gilmore Girls for me! But, this week is mental health awareness week. Mental health holds such strong importance in my life because it's something that I've personally struggled with before. I had chronic anxiety about 2 years ago, and it took such a huge toll on me. So, for this week's post, I wanted to share some ways to take care of your mental health each day. It was from my personal journey that I realized the importance of taking care of my mental health and making sure that my mental health comes first. For me, it's the little things each day that I can do for myself to take care of my mental well-being. And the nice thing about small practices is that you can incorporate them into your daily life.

Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health:

  • Listen to music that brings you happiness and good energy

  • Get outside more ---- the outdoors has a way of calming the mind and grounding us in the present

  • Take regular breaks throughout the day

  • Practice a hobby each day that allows you to feel peace

  • Light candles and use aromas in your working space/at home

  • Find a time each day to put away work and unwind

  • Spend time around people who don't bring you stress

  • Repeat a positive affirmation to yourself that helps you feel calm --- I love this one: all will be okay

  • Give yourself permission to rest when you need it

  • Talk to somebody when you want to get some thoughts out of your head

  • Follow a nightly routine each day that helps you unwind and relax

  • Don't put more on your plate than you can handle --- it's okay to say no to certain tasks that you just can't mentally do

  • Talk to yourself kindly and be gentle with yourself

These are a few ways that I take care of my mental health to make it feel its best each day. Remember that you're mental health matters. The more that we can do as a community to inspire each other to take care of our mental well-being, the better! One thing that I've been reminding myself of for this past month is to have faith and that's been really helpful for my mental health. Just believing that there's good during challenging times always helps me feel calmer and more at ease, so remember to have faith this week!

Take good care of yourself.
