Practicing Yoga to Relieve Stress and Brighten My Mood

Yoga is something that I recently got into, and has been my favorite sort of movement lately. It's something that helps calm my mind and body, relieve any stress, and boost my mood. Whenever I practice it, I feel like my body is rejuvenated, and re-energized, and supplied with the relaxing energy that I need as the blood gets moving and my circulation improves. My yoga practice is generally in the evenings, as most of my self-care routines are. Below, I'm sharing what I like to do during yoga and the different types of yoga I practice.

1) 15-2o Minute Self Guided Practice

When I want to get a little movement in, I'll do some self-guided movement. Generally, I'll do a variation of stretching such as some downward dog stretches, pigeons pose, side stretching, plank pose, bending my back & letting hands hang down, and vinyasa, and neck rolls. These movements make me feel so good and really do give me the energy and also the calmness, relaxation that I need to feel better. While doing a guided-flow, I love listening to some relaxing, zen music. Typically, I'll listen to spa, waterfall or flute music to help be present and bring attention to my peaceful practice.

2) Shavasana/Meditative Practice

I always like to end my yoga practice with Shavasana for relaxation at the end of my yoga practice. This is basically light flat on your back with your palms facing up to attract all the additional calmness and relaxation into your body. This is one of my favorite part's of my yoga practice because it's truly so therapeutic. Other days, I'll do a short meditative practice to close off my yoga flow. During this time, I'll practice gratitude and do some manifestation really for a more positive rest of the day or peaceful rest of the night. It really just depends on what my body needs :)

3) Namaste

I like to close off my yoga routine with bowing down and saying namaste, while my legs are crossed. I enjoy saying this because it's really to honor my practice and fill my body up with the positive light and love that I need.

Take care of yourself,

Esha
