During this winter season, when some of us may be experiencing the winter blues, I have found it very helpful to integrate more calmness and stillness into my life. And a lot of that comes from the spaces that I surround myself with. I'm a sucker for neutrals and anything that can bring about coziness! When I create a calmer space for myself, it benefits my emotional and mental health. Read below for a few tips to create a calmer and cozier aesthetic at home :)

Tip #1 - Use more candlelight
I recently have been lighting candles at home to help set a cozier and more calm space. I feel that the softness of a lit candle is so relaxing and can really help soothe our overall minds, bodies, and souls. Candles just bring about this good light and energy into the space and always purify the space with serenity. Lately, I've been loving a lavender or even a sweet lemony scent to create a more meditative space.
Tip #2 - Keep your space tidy
Organization in general is something that has been so important to me for the longest time. When I have a clean and tidy space, my mind feels less cluttered and calmer. Your environment can have a huge impact on the way you feel, so keep maintaining your space regularly. Also, something else that I live by is that "everything should have a home". Living by this will truly eliminate anxieties and it will make your home feel much more homely.

Tip #3 - Find the right lighting
The most relaxing light for me is definitely "yellow" light or "warm light". Even though light can be such a small component of a home's aesthetic, I truly feel that it has an impact on the way that I feel. Warmer light can really set a calmer mood and it makes the space so much more welcoming and relaxed.
Tip #4 - Decorate with items that emphasize wellness
Near my desk, I have a bunch of items that emphasize self-care and wellness. And that for me already makes my space so much cozier, calmer, and more relaxed. For example, I love having my Five Minute Journal right on my desk because of how it reminds me to practice zen and gratitude on a daily. Surround yourself with high vibe items that bring about positivity and relaxed energy. I absolutely love neutral colors because they just are so tranquil, so I even love to decorate my space with decor that contains those warmer tones.
Tip #5 - Integrate more neutral tones into your space
As you may know, my vibe is all things neutral. I feel that neutral colors give off a calm, pleasant, positive, and warm effect. So look for ways to integrate more neutral colored items into your space, for that more welcoming and cozy feel. You can throw in a cream blanket, a neutral piece of decor or wall art, or perhaps some neutral books for a shelf. Various colors really do give off different energies, so I prefer lighter tones for my space, to cultivate more calmness.
But, remember that a comforting space isn't yours until it is sprinkled with a little bit of your unique magic and your creative angle. We all have something that we know truly will make us feel more cozy or calm at home. It may be a book you love, integrating more natural light, or having plants in your space; whatever really gives you the cozy feels.
I hope that this post inspired you to create a cozier and more zen-filled space to really help you feel calm. I wish you have a peaceful rest of your week!
