Two Realistic Mental Health Tips For This Week

Welcome back to the blog! I hope that you're doing well and that you're practicing self-care! In this beautiful season, which I believe is about slowing down and taking care of yourself, I'm sharing two mental health reminders to help cultivate a healthy mind daily.

Being understanding of all emotions and expressing them in the way that you need to

It's normal to want to feel happy and positive all the time. But honestly, that's not realistic. Life will throw all sorts of emotions at us every day, which may not be happiness. But, understanding that when you're feeling down, stressed, anxious, sad, or a little negative, that is all is normal. It's okay not to feel happy all the time. But, when you are feeling emotions that aren't happiness and positivity, then take the time to express those feelings. Personally, I can't hold in my emotions, but expression for me is super important. You can journal, talk to someone, or even just take some time alone to sit with your emotions, take them in, and work on making yourself feel better. When I struggled with anxiety not too long ago, expressing myself and the negative feelings I felt was extremely helpful. You can't just avoid emotions that are interfering with how you are day-to-day. You've got to take the time to work on your feelings and recover, so you can ultimately reach a happier state of being. Self-help is essential and making it a part of your day when your mind calls for it should be as crucial as another item on your checklist.

Surrounding yourself with the energy that will make you feel good

The people with which we surround ourselves have a significant impact on how we feel mentally and emotionally. You are in charge of who those people are going to be each day. I enjoy being around positivity and just good vibe energy in general. For example, if someone is stressed, complaining, and has a pessimistic attitude, I don't know if I want to be around that person because that will have an impact on my energy. But instead, if someone has a positive outlook on what's making them stressed, and they have the attitude that they're going to get through it, well, that will make me feel more comfortable. I suggest not to push your way into a group of friends to make it look good to others but do it for yourself. If certain friends and people make you happy, then for your mental health, be around them more. And if they don't, then it's simple. Just choose to head in another direction socially for your mental wellbeing :)

From personal experience, I'm reminding you that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. If you're having a difficult week this week, then it's okay. Follow my two pieces of advice, take it slow, fill up your cup, express yourself, and know that you will get through it.

Xo,

Esha
