What Does it Truly Mean to Be Kind to Yourself?

Hi! Welcome back to the blog! For today's post, I'm talking about a topic that's of great importance to me, which is being kind to myself.

I started understanding the importance of being kind to myself a few months ago. As you may know, I struggled with my mental health for almost a year, and that was a period of time where I faced challenges in all dimensions. When I had anxiety, I realized that I was putting way too much pressure on myself, and I was also a little bit of a perfectionist. But, I'm glad to be able to thoughtfully reflect on my past, to improve my future.

When we are such high achievers for everything in life, there will never be room to grow, learn, and improve. And this lesson really allowed me to understand what it means to be kind to myself.

To me, being kind to myself is treating myself with love, respect, and acceptance. It's embracing you who I am as a person and the light that I bring into this world. Being kind to myself is not being too hard on myself if things didn't turn out the way that I wanted them to. It's giving myself breaks and rest, and not letting myself burn out. It's not shaming myself for my traits, a bad day, or even my appearance. But in turn, it's loving who I am, in exactly this moment. When we learn to be kind to ourselves each day, our life will truly change for the better.

Choosing to treat ourselves the way that we want others to treat us will even impact others' lives. We can bring joy and moments of happiness into the lives of people with that we interact with on a daily. Life is just more beautiful when there's kindness in it. Now, the real question is how will you be kind to yourself each and every day?

Have a beautiful week, and here's to more self-love, self-acceptance, and of course, kindness!
